Droppp Announces Funko Sid & Marty Krofft NFTs

Droppp has announced that the first Funko NFT drop of 2023 will feature the legendary children's TV television producers: Sid & Marty Krofft.

Funko Sid & Marty Krofft NFTs will drop January 17 @2pm ET

What do we know so far?

Funko will offer the usual Standard ($9.99) & Premium ($29.99) packs, with 12,500 of each up for grabs. It's a smaller drop than we have seen recently, which is a good move as it's a rather niche drop (even beyond my time!).

We also know that the grail will be Horatio J. Hoodoo.

The Grail - Horatio J. Hoodoo

Horatio J. Hoodoo was the main antagonist in the television series "Lidsville," which was produced by Sid & Marty Krofft in the 1970s. Hoodoo was a magician who lived in a land called Lidsville, which was inhabited by living hats.

He was often depicted as a scheming and manipulative character who was always looking for ways to gain power and control over the other inhabitants of Lidsville.

Who are Sid & Marty Krofft?

Sid & Marty Krofft are a duo of television producers who are best known for creating a string of successful children's television shows in the 1970s. The Krofft brothers got their start in show business as puppeteers and eventually transitioned into producing live-action television shows.

Some of their most popular shows include "H.R. Pufnstuf," "Lidsville," and "The Bugaloos." These shows were known for their colourful sets, whimsical characters, and catchy theme songs. They were often compared to the works of Walt Disney and were hugely popular with children and adults alike.

In addition to their work in television, the Krofft brothers also produced a number of successful stage shows and theme park attractions. They are credited with helping to pave the way for the modern trend of multimedia entertainment franchises.

Despite their success, the Krofft brothers faced their share of challenges in the entertainment industry. Many of their shows were expensive to produce and required the use of complex special effects, which made them difficult to finance. Additionally, the brothers were often criticized for the low production values of some of their shows.

Despite these challenges, the Krofft brothers have left a lasting legacy in the world of children's entertainment. Their imaginative and delightful shows continue to be beloved by fans of all ages.

What do we think?

It's not to my personal taste, but I wasn't brought up with Sid & Marty Krofft shows.

I'm not entirely sure that demographic will be widely involved with NFTs either, but there is a following for Sid & Marty Krofft Funko Pops who will no doubt want to get their hands on these.

If there is another Freddy up for grabs as the Royalty, no doubt those who wouldn't normally be interested in this IP will be ripping packs.

Our ultimate guide will be out soon with pull odds and more.
