Funko asks us the question "What is the Matrix?" in the latest Funko NFT drop.
With Halloween and Horror drops behind us, we move on to a movie classic with the first instalment of The Matrix.
It's time to take the red pill and join us in wonderland. Read on to find out more.
1. The Matrix NFT Packs
Funko offers the usual two NFT packs at launch - a Standard ($9.99) and a Premium ($29.99) option.
|Pack||Amount Released||No. of NFTs||Launch Price||Launch Date|
The Matrix NFT drop has the exact same amount of packs as the Scooby Doo NFT drop.
If this is your first Funko NFT drop, the only difference between a standard and premium pack is the amount of NFTs inside. For example, there are no bonuses for buying a premium pack over three standard packs.
Packs will be available on launch day on Droppp.io and can only be bought with a credit/debit card. The drop is limited to $60 and you can rejoin the queue to buy more if you are fortunate.
You can enter the pack queue around 10 minutes before launch (the 'Purchase In' timer will change to 'Join The Queue').
If you fail to grab packs at launch, you can buy from the secondary market (guide further down).
2. The Matrix NFT Collection & Rarities
All your favourite characters from The Matrix are here, including Neo, Agent Smith, Trinity, The Analyst and more.
Everyone wants to get hold of those rare legendary and grail NFTs, so here are your pull odds:
|NFT Rarity Type||No of Templates||% Odds Of Unpacking||Total Circulation||Per Unique Template|
|1 of 1||3||0.004% (0.012% Premium)||3||1|
|Series Coin||1||10% (30% Premium)||7,500||7,500|
The drop is pretty much identical to the Scooby Doo NFT drop. It has the same odds of pulling Epic (11.5/1), Legendary (60/1) and the Grail (369/1) rarities.
A 1-of-1 is an ultra-rare, non-redeemable NFT. The odds of pulling from a standard pack is 24999/1 for this drop. This will appear as a bonus 6th slot within your pack.
A premium pack gives you the same odds as pulling a 1-of-1 as 3 standard packs (8332/1). We are back to only three 1-of-1 NFTs for this drop from the usual six, with Max Tokenhead sitting out for Freddy.
A Series Coin is another bonus collectable NFT (non-redeemable) that will also appear in the 6th slot if pulled.
Ever wondered how many The Matrix packs have been opened? The number of Legendary or Grail NFTs still to be found? Or who are the top account holders of each redeemable pop?
Now you can with the excellent PopInStock The Matrix NFT tracker.
3. Royalty & Physical Redemption
Neo, Trinity, The Twins, Morpheus and Freddy Funko make up the physical Funko Pops! for the set.
Five of the redeemable physicals can be claimed by collecting the Grail (limited to 999) and four legendary (limited to 1,550 each) NFTs.
There are some decent Pops! here for fans of The Matrix. We've just seen the first horizontal Funko NFT box with Pennywise and it's followed immediately with another: Neo performing his iconic bullet time as the grail.
The Twins is also an interesting Funko. They are glitching into each other, within the one Funko Pop, which is pretty cool.
Learn everything you need to know about redeeming your physical Funko Pop! in our ultimate guide.
All redemption dates for all Funko NFT sets can be found here:
The Royalty collection reward is claimed when you complete the entire 96 NFT set (excluding legendary, Grail, Series Coin and 1-of-1).
In simple terms, if you collect all 39 common, 24 uncommon,18 rare and 15 epic variants from the set, you'll have completed the Royalty Collection and will be able to redeem an exclusive Freddy as Neo (above) when redemption coins are distributed.
As we normally see, this Freddy will be very popular, even those not interested in the rest of the set will try and pick up this Freddy.
As with Grail or Legendary NFTs, a royalty redemption coin will be distributed to you on March 15, 2023, if you hold all 96 NFTs in either your WAX wallet or Droppp wallet. You will then have 30 days to redeem your physical by April 14, 2023.
All The Matrix Physical Pops! are expected to be shipped in Q4 2023.
4. New to Funko NFTs?
If you are new to Funko NFTs and can't wait to get your hands on some of the epic redeemables, here are a few things you need to get started.
You will need to sign-up for a Funko Droppp wallet.
This wallet allows you to house your new The Matrix NFTs, keep Neo safe, open Funko packs and redeem physical rewards.

WAX Wallet & Secondary Market
You may miss out on the launch day drop, have the thirst for more Funko Packs, or want to buy singles to finish off your Royalty set.
To do all of this, you will need to buy from the secondary market. To get set up you will need a WAX cloud wallet .
Droppp and WAX Cloud are two completely separate NFT wallets, but it is possible to transfer your Funko NFTs between them which is needed to trade on the secondary market.
When we talk about the secondary market, we mean a peer-to-peer marketplace such as the AtomicHub. You can learn how to buy NFTs from the AtomicHub in our article below:
There is also a new pay-by-credit card option on AtomicHub that I haven't yet tested but will write a guide soon. You will still need a WAX wallet to use this feature.
You can also use WAXP tokens to purchase from AtomicHub. Read our guide below and learn how to buy WAX:
