What are Chase Funko Pop Figures?

What are Chase Funko Pop Figures?

Chase Funko Pop figures are special edition versions of regular Funko Pop figures that are made in smaller quantities and are often more rare and valuable.

There is nothing better than looking through supermarket shelves to find a chase Funko Pop. It certainly takes me back to exploring toy store shelves when I was a kid, mesmerized by the one toy that stood out amongst the others.

These figures are usually identical to the regular version of the figure, except that they may have a different colour scheme or other slight variations. Chase figures are often released in addition to the regular version of the figure, and they are typically marked with a special chase sticker on the packaging.

For example, the chase Stretch Armstrong from the 'Retro Toys' Funko Pop line has a different body mold compared to the common variant of the Pop. The chase shows off Stretch Armstrong in his stretched form, which is pretty neat.

Funko first introduced the concept of chase figures in 2010 as a way to add an extra level of excitement and collectability to its popular line of vinyl figurines. Since then, chase figures have become a staple of the Funko Pop line, and they are now highly sought after by collectors all over the world.

What is the difference between a Funko Pop Chase and a Funko Pop Exclusive?

Funko Pop chase figures and Funko Pop exclusive figures are both special edition versions of regular Funko Pop figures that are made in smaller quantities and are often rare and more valuable. However, there are some key differences between these two types of figures:

  • Chase figures: Chase figures are identical to the regular version of the figure, except that they may have a different colour scheme or other slight variations. Chase figures are marked with a special chase sticker on the packaging and are made in smaller quantities than the regular version of the figure, often in ratios of 1/6 vs the common pop.
  • Exclusive figures: Exclusive figures are Funko Pop figures that are only available at a specific retailer or event. These figures may be identical to the regular version of the figure or may have unique features or variations that are not found on the regular version. Exclusive figures are typically made in larger quantities than chase figures, but many are released in limited quantities with piece counts visible on the sticker (for example, '480 piece').

You can also find an exclusive Funko Pop figure that is exclusive to a specific store, but it also has a chase variant. Those chase figures will feature two stickers, the exclusive sticker and the chase sticker.

In general, both chase figures and exclusive figures are highly sought after by collectors because they are rare and can be worth a lot of money.

There are several reasons why chase Funko Pop figures are so popular among collectors. One of the main reasons is that they are rare and hard to find, which adds to their value and appeal.

Because chase figures are made in smaller quantities than the regular version of the figure, they are often more difficult to come by, which makes them more desirable to collectors who want to complete their collection or add a rare and unique piece to their display.

In addition to their rarity, chase Funko Pop figures are also popular because they often have unique or unusual features that set them apart from the regular version of the figure.

For example, a chase figure may have a different colour scheme or special detailing that is not found on the regular version of the figure. This can make chase figures more interesting and desirable to collectors who are looking for something unique to add to their collection.

That's not always the case, however, as fans have criticized Funko for being 'lazy' when it comes to some chase variants. For example, the Disney Classics Tinker Bell Funko Pop chase variant only has a slightly reddish tone to her face. That's it!

The chase variant's reddish tone only made the fans mad

How Much are Chase Funko Pop Figures Worth?

The value of a chase Funko Pop figure can vary significantly depending on a number of factors, including its rarity, condition, and demand. Some chase figures can be worth hundreds or even thousands of dollars, while others may only be worth a few dollars more than the regular version of the figure.

One of the key factors that determine the value of a chase Funko Pop figure is its rarity. Figures that are made in very small quantities are often worth more than those that are more widely available.

Another factor that can affect the value of a chase Funko Pop figure is its condition. Figures that are in mint condition, with no defects or wear to the box or Pop, are typically worth more than those that have been played with or have visible damage.

Finally, the demand for a particular chase Funko Pop figure can also affect its value. Figures in high demand may be worth more than those that are not as popular, even if they are equally rare.

Where Can I Find Chase Funko Pop Figures?

Chase Funko Pop figures can be difficult to find because they are made in smaller quantities than the regular version of the figure. Here are a few places where you might be able to find chase figures:

  • Funko Pop conventions: Many Funko Pop conventions and events feature special releases of chase figures that are only available at the event. Attending a convention is a great way to find rare and hard-to-find figures, including chase figures.
  • Online retailers: Some online retailers, such as eBay and Amazon, may have chase figures for sale. However, be prepared to pay a premium for these figures, as they are often priced higher than the regular version
  • In-store retailers: It's always fun to check supermarket shelves for that elusive chase funko sticker amongst common Funko pops. Just keep in mind that the box may not always be in the best condition when exposed to shoppers.
